Deadline reports that Marvel Studios, the guardians of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are locking in a deal to bring Mark Ruffalo’s “Incredible Hulk” to their upcoming Thor threequel, titled “Thor: Ragnarok.”

“Ragnarok” is an old Norse word for an apocalyptic battle in the future that brings about the death of Odin, Thor, and Loki, and submerge the world in water. Marvel probably won’t follow the plot of the original myth too closely, but it’s nice to know that we’ll see the Hulk smashing things in this epic interplanetary brawl.

The film will be directed Taika Waititi, the New Zealand-born filmmaker responsible for last year’s darling vampire comedy “What We Do in the Shadows.” While the Marvel Universe certainly has room for some lighthearted comedy, we’re hoping a super hero film about the end of the world is more in the vein of this duo’s past adventures.
