Alexis Ren has more than nine million Instagram followers, and yesterday she shared some big news with them in a post: She’s launching a line of activewear called REN. The company already has an Instagram account, and of course, the first photo features Ren herself modeling the workout gear:
According to the official website, which features that same photo, REN will offer “a monthly subscription that includes one exclusive style, designed only for members by Alexis.” It sounds like the company’s business model is similar to Kate Hudson’s clothing company, Fabletics, which also sells athletic wear by subscription. REN makes it clear who it wants as customers—people who admire its founder. Below the sign-up box on the website, a note says “Spaces are limited & only open to her most loyal fans.”
There’s no official word on when REN will be open for business, but the 20-year-old model’s new venture inspires a question: If she’s trying to sell clothing, will she start wearing more of it in her Instagram posts? One of the ways she’s attracted such a big following is by sharing photos and videos of herself wearing very little—or nothing at all.
