American Sniper, the upcoming feature directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper (The Hangovers, Silver Linings Playbook), is based on the harrowing life story of elite SEAL Chris Kyle, the most “successful” sniper in American history. If this gripping two-minute tease is any indication, the film will wrestle, not just with the technicalities of warfare, but also with the moral challenges and ramifications of professional soldiering.

Sniper joins the growing list of modern, gritty, highly realistic films about expert soldiers at war and, often, at home. A betting man might say the recent wave started with Jarhead (click here to compare/contrast).
