Yesterday the Internet went into an uproar over a dress that some people (correctly) saw as white/gold and others (incorrectly) believed it was blue and black. Everyone learned that people really can’t trust their own eyes when it comes to colors. Well we’ve found another optical illusion that will surely tie your brain into knots. Take a look:
So what’s so interesting about this illusion? What if I told you those green and blue spirals are actually the same color? You’re probably saying something like, “Screw you dude. Those are two entirely different colors.” Well you would be wrong, but I don’t blame you. Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two spirals created by our friends over at Slate:
You’re probably now saying, “Yeah, you just took two colors and put them side-by-side.” I promise I did not. Here’s a zoomed-in version of the picture. If you look right where green lines meet the magenta lines and the blue lines meet the orange lines, you’ll see that I’m not lying.
And if you still don’t see it, I don’t know what to tell you. You probably think that dress is black and green or something stupid as well.
