Music’s latest ruling power couple Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have been surprisingly candid about their affections for one another since gossip began to surface earlier this year (with The Weeknd fresh off his break-up with Bella Hadid). The duo paraded around at Coachella and most recently held court at the MET Gala at the start of May.
Now 24-year-old Selena Marie Gomez and 27-year-old Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (who have already garnered the social media hashtag #Abelena) have inspired rumors that they may be collaborating on a song for her new album. It started when a song titled “In Her Element” appeared on the Wikipedia page of famed record producer Max Martin (“I Kissed A Girl,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Baby One More Time” are a few of his hits), listing The Weeknd as a featured artist. While the note has since been deleted, and the reliability and accuracy of Wikipedia is questionable, it was noticed quickly enough to send #Selenators into a tailspin of anticipation.
Just last week, Gomez released “Bad Liar,” which, of course, everyone wants to make about The Weeknd. Then the song’s co-writer, Justin Tranter tweeted, clarifying the song is “actually about trying to hide magic feelings for someone new, but not being able to.” He signed his tweet with an “Xo,” which fans deduced must have been a reference to The Weekend, who has a song and record label of the same title.
You got some of the lyrics wrong, and it’s actually about trying to hide magic feelings for someone new, but not being able to. Xo https://t.co/nL8ooKgdXa— Justin Tranter (@justtranter) May 18, 2017

Meanwhile, Gomez was last spotted supporting The Weeknd at his concert in Chicago.
