Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky is no stranger to the fashion world. It’s almost reached a point where his contributions to style are outshining his music. The latest sartorial accolade for A$AP Rocky is that he was selected as a model for Dior Homme’s Fall/Winter 2016 ad campaign.
In the photos for the ad, shot by renowned lensman Willy Vanderperre, the rapper wears a bright red topcoat in one image and a patterned blazer over a black shirt and sleeveless gloves in another.
Dior Homme creative director Kris Van Assche selected Rocky because of his keen point of view. “I really like his personal style and taste. He’s a real fashion lover,” Van Assche told WWD. “He feels like fashion really influences his own work, and he has strong opinions on that.”
A$AP Rocky was honored by the selection. “When it comes to Dior, it’s just prestige and elegance in my opinion. It’s almost like Coco Chanel was for the lady,” he said.
This is just the latest venture into fashion for Rocky, who recorded the track "Fashion Killa.” Through his AWGE creative agency, he recently announced a collaboration with designer J.W. Anderson on a capsule collection that includes faux fur jackets and track tops. He also started off the year by releasing a collaboration with Guess Originals, including overalls and shirts.
