There’s no stopping Ashley Graham. A day doesn’t go by without the 29-year-old making headlines for her inimitable beauty or unrelenting efforts toward shattering the stigma that looms over plus-size women. And because V Magazine just released a very sultry spread of Graham posed completely nude just recently, today is no different.
In a casual interview with friend and Blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross for the mag, Graham reveals that she wasn’t always so fearless. She admits that there was a point in her career that she’d almost quit modelling altogether at 18.

“I was disgusted with myself and told my mom I was coming home. And she told me, ‘No, you’re not, because you told me that this was what you wanted and I know you’re supposed to do this. It doesn’t matter what you think about your body, because your body is supposed to change somebody’s life.’ To this day that sticks with me because I’m here today and I feel that it’s okay to have cellulite.”

Graham, in a haze of nostalgia, then reminisces about a time in middle school when she told her mom that her cellulite was “gross” and “ugly”. In a desperate attempt to cheer up her daughter, Graham’s mom responded by yanking down her pants and exclaiming, “Look, I have it, too.”

“She didn’t tell me that it’s beautiful or ugly,” Graham continues. “She just made it a non-issue. It doesn’t define my worth…I feel like younger girls are going to grasp it and they’re going to be like, ‘Who cares!’”

Graham’s latest interview proves yet again that she’s a class act. But because I’m rather confident that you didn’t come here for the interview, you can catch a glimpse of the 29-year-old in all her racy glory here.
