The cast of the upcoming movie based on sneaking-and-stabbing game franchise Assassin’s Creed just got even more legit.

Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune, Die Hard: With a Vengeance) and Brendan Gleeson (28 Days Later, Brave Heart) are joining the project, according to a report from Deadline.

We already knew that Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) would play Callum Lynch, a guy who realizes he has amazing assassin genes thanks to his distant ancestor, and that Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception) would be involved as well. Apparently, Gleeson will play Fassbender’s father, while Irons is Cotillard’s father. If I had to hazard a guess based on Assassin’s Creed game storylines, I’d say that means Fassbender and Cotillard are star-crossed lovers from opposite sides of the main conflict of the AC franchise, which has the assassins battling the templars. I’d also guess that one or both of their characters are going to get stabbed and die dramatically.

Video game movies are pretty notorious for sucking, but at the very least, Assassin’s Creed may offer a crew of watchable actors.
