Australia’s Idea of Sex Jams Comes from a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Australia’s Idea of Sex Jams Comes from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: 20th Century Fox

20th Century Fox

Mos Eisley might be a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but at least it has the hottest music in the galaxy. Or at least that’s what Australians seem to think.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day earlier this week, Spotify Australia decided to take a look at what Aussies like to listen to while getting themselves in the mood, only to find something that no one (except, perhaps, for Greedo) would have suspected. “For those who want to get right down to business,” Spotify revealed in a press release, “‘Cantina Band’ from the Star Wars: A New Hope Soundtrack, by John Williams, takes out the number one spot on the top sexy time playlists, by a landslide.”

Yes, really. This song:

That track heads a list that contains some more obvious contenders for sex jams, including The Weeknd’s “Often” and “Earned It,” Ginuwine’s “Pony” and “Rihanna’s "Sex With Me"—songs that are at least a little bit dirty, as opposed to the Cantina Band song from Star Wars. Seriously, Australians, I have no idea what’s going on down there but you have to reconsider your life choices.

(Is it because the band look like they have giant butts for heads? Is that it?)

The list was assembled after Spotify searched playlists for the word "sex” in the title, and then tallied up the tracks that appeared most often. This means that, all across Australia, there are people putting together playlists for getting busy, and thinking, “You know what really gets me in the mood? That weird music when Greedo is getting shot. Yeah. That’s right.”

Look, I’m not trying to kinkshame here; whatever works, right? And it could be worse:

Then again, that’s probably saved for the post-coital playlist. Don’t try and deny it, Australians.
