Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp isn’t the only comedy juggernaut Netflix will deploy this month. On July 31, the streaming service will release Staten Island Summer, a new coming-of-age comedy flick written by Saturday Night Live head writer Colin Jost and produced by SNL mastermind Lorne Michaels. The film, about a couple of teenagers who try to make the most of their final summer before college, packs an all-star cast made of up of current and former SNL stars, including Jost, Cecily Strong, Bobby Moynihan, Kate McKinnon, Will Forte, and Fred Armisen. There’s a little bit of Superbad here, a little bit of The Way, Way Back, and a little bit of Meatballs. The trailer makes it look like crazy summer fun, and I can’t wait to see if the rest of the film delivers. Look for it on Netflix in a few weeks.
