Prop Store, which specializes in movie collectibles, is auctioning off one of the motorcycle-like vehicles that Christian Bale’s Batman (and, to a lesser degree, Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman) drove in the films. Only six of the Batpods were created and, as those who are familiar with the movies know, they were used to provide Batman with an escape from his Tumbler, allowing him to pilot around in a prone position while shooting bad guys with machine guns.
The version that is up for auction has a Honda 750 motorcycle engine and massive 31-inch Hoosier racing tires. The cannons don’t work (sorry!) but the brakes do (thankfully). You stop the Batpod with a lever on the left handlebar or the right foot pedal similar to a standard motorcycle, except for the tiny fact that you’re lying down on your stomach. While the vehicle does run, it also comes with a stand so that you can keep it on display for all the Batman fanboys that will inevitably be stopping by your house.
And the Batpod isn’t even that expensive, considering it’s a piece of movie history. The Prop Store auction is live now and the Batpod has an estimate of $80,000-$107,000.
