The Apple Watch has not been the runaway success that the company hoped it would be. Apple’s recent earnings report didn’t break out the number of Watches sold in the second quarter, but the data it did provide was enough to send Apple’s stock price tumbling. However, Apple did say that more watches were sold in the first nine weeks than iPhones or iPads when they were first available, and it’s hard to believe that Apple won’t figure out a way to make the wearable a “must-have” device the way it has with so many other products.
One thing that everyone can agree on is that the Apple Watch’s battery sucks. The battery is designed to last all day, which in itself isn’t too bad, but if you’re using functions like the heart-rate monitor and receiving lots of notifications, you can run out of juice much faster. That means you are going to want separate charging capabilities for work and at home. And since one of the selling points of the Apple Watch is its elegant design, you should make sure to get a dock or stand that is equally good looking. Currently, all docks and stands use Apple’s own charging pad, although that may soon change, but that hasn’t stopped accessories makers from coming up with some very cool solutions to keep your Apple Watch fueled.
Here are our five favorite Apple Watch docks and stands.
1. NOMAD POD
Shaped like a slimmed-down hockey puck, the Nomad Pod is one of two standalone power sources out right now. It fits easily into your pocket and packs enough power to keep the Apple Watch running for two straight days. The Pod also has a clever way to store the charging cable.
2. MOPHIE WATCH DOCK
With a sleek aluminum frame atop a leather-accented base, this is a good-looking charging solution for either the office or your home. The dock positions your Apple Watch in an easy to read position and allows you to conveniently access the touchscreen while the device charges.

The WatchMe recharges your Apple Watch by transforming it into a Minion-like creature. Launched on Kickstarter, the 3.5-inch tall dock is available in three colors (black, white, and yellow) that you can mix and match to create your own personal design. You can further customize it with stickers. Just looking at this thing will make the frustration of your watch’s brief battery life disappear.
4. PAD & QUILL TIMBER CATCHALL
A valet for modern times with classic design, the Timber Catchall is handmade in Minnesota from either American Cherry, Walnut, or Sapele wood and has room to hold and charge your Apple Watch and iPhone (you’ll have to provide cables for both) and your keys. There’s no space for your wallet, but who needs one of those when you have Apple Pay?
5. BLOC POWER BANK
Along with the Nomad Pod, the Power Bank is the other standalone Apple Watch power source out right now. When the Power Bank is fully charged, it can recharge your Apple Watch up to three times. It isn’t quite as portable as the Pod, but it does have a slightly more appealing design. It’s currently available in two different shades of gray aluminum. But rose gold, gold, stainless steel, and wood versions are available for pre-order.
