Signature drink: grog (fresh lemon verbena tea, lemon and lime juice, homemade lemon bitters, powdered sugar, Captain Morgan spiced rum and ice)
To get to the secluded bar at PX, a new speakeasy in Old Town Alexandria, patrons have two choices: Friends of the proprietor can walk through a fish & chips shop downstairs called Eamonn's; however, the rest of us have to go around the corner, look for a blue light, ring the bell, wait for the cocktail host to answer and hope she asks, "May I help you?" It's worth the hassle. Once inside, you can choose from 18 or so cocktails, all created by Todd Thrasher, who also co-owns three-year-old Restaurant Eve. The man is obsessed with authenticity and loves old-school drinks: He bought antique glassware to showcase his creations, refuses to use frozen or canned juices and coordinates with the kitchen staff to make sure he's using the best seasonal ingredients.
