Nick’s English Hut
Since 1940, Indiana has won five national championships in basketball, and all five times, Nick’s was the place to be. Opened by a Greek immigrant in 1927, the bar has evolved over time from a comfy hangout into ground zero for IU sports action. Flatscreens, taxidermy and memorabilia line the many rooms, and so do memories. Most of the nostalgia involves homemade strombolis, beer buckets passed down from prior generations and a draconian drinking game called “Sink the Biz.” Nick’s is so woven into the fabric of Indiana that Barack Obama chose it as a stop while campaigning for president in 2008. ![]() ![]() Mar 18, 2010
