Best Hotel Bar in Maui: Grotto Bar at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & SpaGrotto Bar at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa You have not lived until you have tippled at the most obscenely gorgeous pool in one of the most luxurious resorts in Hawaii. The Grand Wailea Resort in Maui hosts several bars actually—including the Botero Gallery Bar in the stunning lobby, filled with nine of Fernando Botero's larger-than-life sculptures of women—but the swim-up Grotto Bar redefines poolside decadence. And yes, you have to be a guest to drink in the water. The resort actually hosts a complex of pools that look and feel as if they are a part of some tropical village. Surrounded by palm trees and sun chairs, you'll occasionally get glimpses of the rich and famous as they pass over arched walkways or return to their private cabanas. And if ever there were a time and a place to indulge in an exotic, fruity cocktail, this would be it: Go ahead, order a lava flow (made with banana, pineapple juice, heavy whipping cream, condensed coconut milk, Coco Lopez and Trader Vic's rum). You're in Hawaii after all. ![]() ![]() Mar 19, 2010
