I suggest you watch this amazing video of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner making an almost completely vertical takeoff.
The plane’s incredible maneuvers were conducted over Moses Lake, Wash, in preparation for a performance at next week’s Paris Air Show.
This latest version of Boeing’s 787 made its maiden flight back in 2013, and Air New Zealand took delivery of the first dash-9 a year later. In September 2014, United Airlines became the first operator to acquire the plane in North American, and now features the longest non-stop flight any Dreamliner makes—a direct hop between LA and Melbourne.*
*A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 was not flying commercially until 2018.
