In their ongoing struggle to evade detection by law enforcement, drug smugglers are constantly coming up with new and ingenious methods of hiding their illicit products. This is not one of those methods.
According to CNN, Border Patrol agents intercepted over a ton of marijuana hidden inside some really, really fake looking carrots. Seriously, get a load of these things:
The phony shipment was discovered at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge border crossing in Texas. In all, 3,000 carrots were found with a combined worth of nearly $500,000. A similar shipment valued at over $1 million was discovered last November. The fact that smugglers were willing to try it again seems to suggest this ridiculous trick might actually work some of the time. Or maybe they’re just really lazy smugglers.
