The Boston Globe went far beyond an editorial stance, though they certainly did that as well, titled “The GOP Must Stop Trump.” The newspaper team didn’t want to keep at the warnings of what the future could be. Instead, the staff put together a fake front page from April 9, 2017, several months into the satirical outcome where presidential candidate Donald Trump has, in fact, won.
THE BOSTON GLOBE: This is Donald Trump’s America. What you read on this page is what might happen if the GOP frontrunner can put his ideas into practice, his words into action. Many Americans might find this vision appealing, but the Globe’s editorial board finds it deeply troubling.
It’s certainly a bold move, but its aim is to counteract a bold candidate. It’s a pretty fascinating tactic. If there are too many what-ifs in the narrative, create something real and make it feel more concrete.
