From 2006 to 2011, Carlos Boozer was a really good NBA player. The last few years he’s been a mediocre to bad player, but he still does enough things that he can remain employed in the league. While he’s played in several big-time playoff games, his most memorable NBA game was when the Bulls played the Celtics on national TV and Boozer showed up looking like he just covered his head in shoe polish.
Here’s a comparison of his hair in that game versus a few days later, courtesy of BlackSportsOnline:
Very natural looking, right?
Boozer has avoided discussing the subject and explaining what happened that day. Until now. Boozer recently went on Highly Questionable where hosts Dan LeBatard and Bomani Jones (who occassionally writes for Playboy.com) asked him some questions about his career, the time he punched a referee in the balls (accidentally) and more. It’s a great interview, but near the end the two hosts finally bring up the hair dye and Boozer gives an explanation. Here’s the full video, but you can skip to the 3:20ish mark of the video to get to the hair dye question.
Lesson to all balding athletes out there: Just embrace it and shave it off. That way you don’t end up getting mocked by the Internet for trying to hide. Have there been any other high profile players with such issues?
Can’t wait for him to explain that one!
