"What is 'Stankonia'? 'Stankonia' is a place where all funky things come from," explained Big Boi, the pit bull-breeding, dank-blazing, ice-flashing pimp daddy of OutKast. "We dubbed our studio that, because all our funky stuff comes out of here."
Their Atlanta recording complex may be where Big Boi recorded the bumping soundtrack to the highly-anticipated film Idelwild with André 3000, but some of the funkiest stuff that's ever come out of Stankonia involves a Georgia fox named Jordan. While partner André 3000 snapped another model in Stankonia's mixing booth, Big Boi, né Antwan Patton, spread out in his cavernous recording studio with flexible model Jordan Cornelius.
Where André took a slow and steady approach to his pictorial, Big Boi—who has a brass stripper pole installed in his home boom-boom room—jumped right into his shoot fast and furious. Jordan's gymnastic photo session with Big Boi found her provocatively draped over a mike stand and sprawled across a grand piano. As he bent Jordan into near-impossible poses, Big Boi coached, "Arch your back. Arch it all! Archie Bunker!"
"Fuck this rapping," he said to the Playboy crew. "Let me shoot this three months out of the year."
As his shooting got more frantic, Big Boi twisted his leather ball cap around so the bill was in back, making it easier to shoot. Even after the change, it still seemed to impede his speed. "Fuck that. The hat comes off then," he said, finally casting the cap aside.
When it was all over, with Jordan breathless and Big Boi's last roll of film spent, the hip-hop superstar enthused, "My favorite part is when the panties came off...when everything came off. I'm thinking about putting in an application for Playboy. I'll be your full-time Celebrity Photographer."
