If you aren’t aware of the saga that went down this week with DeAndre Jordan, then I’ll fill you in. DeAndre Jordan, the star big man of the Los Angeles Clippers, was set to become a free agent. He agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks and jump ship to his home state of Texas. Due to NBA rules and regulations, the signing couldn’t become official until a couple days later when he could actually put ink to the contract. For whatever reason, in the days between agreeing to join Dallas and the day where he could actually sign, DeAndre had a change of heart and went back on his word, re-joining the Los Angeles Clippers.
There’s a ton of speculation about what happened and what caused him to change his mind. Many people say it was his Clippers teammates who barricaded themselves in his home and wouldn’t leave. Others say that Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was influential in convincing him. Then, there’s the opinion that Doc’s daughter, Callie Rivers had something to do with it…
All systems were go with the #Mavs as late as last Monday night in regards to DeAndre coming to Dallas. Then all you know what broke loose.— Dwain Price (@DwainPrice) July 13, 2015
A source said he believes Doc Rivers’ daughter, Callie, got to DeAndre Jordan and convinced him 2 change his mind and return 2 the Clippers.— Dwain Price (@DwainPrice) July 13, 2015
Wait a second, how could the coaches daughter convince one of the star players to stick around? I don’t get it, where does she play a part? Oh, she looks like THIS?
OK, I get it now. That makes a lot of sense, actually. Good for Callie Rivers, good for DeAndre Jordan, and good for the Los Angeles Clippers. It’s all very bad for the Dallas Mavericks… but someone’s got to be the loser here. I don’t blame DeAndre. Just look at her!
By the way, Callie’s brother, Austin Rivers, is on the Clippers as well. That could make things kind of awkward.
