Unless you follow super niche media outlets, chances are you haven’t heard about the tiny, passion project movie coming out this Friday called Rogue One. It is part of the little-known Star Wars franchise which has a small but loyal following among indy movie enthusiasts. To help get the word out (the mainstream media doesn’t pay much attention to these types of movies), the filmmakers partnered with Columbia to release limited edition jackets inspired by the Rogue One characters.
In all seriousness, Columbia’s new Rogue One jackets are the best way to do cosplay without going full cosplay. There are three outerwear pieces in the collection, each representing a different character. The Jyn Erso Rebel Jacket includes both a cotton jacket and an insulated vest that can be worn separately or layered with the jacket. The Captain Cassian Andor Rebel Parka is waterproof, and built to withstand harsh conditions with a lining that reflects body heat back onto the person wearing the jacket and a cozy, fleece-lined hood. For Dark Side fans, there is the Imperial Death Trooper Jacket that features an Imperial Army logos on the shoulders and an imposing look borrowed from the Death Trooper’s armor.
This is the first time that Columbia has worked on products with a movie tie-in. The three jackets range in price from $400-$500, and are available at Columbia.com.
