Watch a Computer Name Everything It ‘Sees’ Because Robots Aren’t Intimidating Enough

I have mixed feelings about The Singularity (which I’ve been vocal about). While I think this video of a modified neural network analyzing what it “sees” is one of the wildest things I’ve witnessed, the implications are obviously terrifying. I mean, I don’t want my computer to ever pop up a reading of “sad pale man trying his best at life” or “lanky individual eating alone for what seems like millionth time this week.” Built by researchers from Standford and Google and used here on U.S. artist and coder Kyle McDonald’s laptop as he strolled Amsterdam, this tech is next level (while also being notably inaccurate at times).
