Conker’s Bad Fur Day is one of those hallowed video games many of us experienced in our formative teenage years, when it was hilarious to fight a boss composed completely of poop, or when we were amazed to hear swear words come out of the mouth of a cute, fuzzy squirrel.
In Rare Replay, developer Rare Ltd. re-released 30 of its past games, including Conker’s Bad Fur Day. And riding along with the game is the above video, detailing a Conker game that never saw the light of day: Conker: Gettin’ Medieval.
As the developers in the short video explain, where Bad Fur Day was a game more along the lines of Super Mario 64—i.e. a 3D platformer—Gettin’ Medieval was meant to be a purely multiplayer game that included siege warfare competition. The video also includes a ton of concept art, much of which is pretty dark and graphic. Seems like Gettin’ Medieval would have been right in line with Conker’s combination of cute animals and their violent deaths. Too bad it never became more than concept art.
