Those of us lucky enough to grow up with a treehouse in our backyard can testify to how incredible they are. You don’t have to be 12 to enjoy them, though. In fact, they might be even better when you’re a boring 9-5 working adult.

CAPTAIN COOK, HAWAII
Because of course Hawaii has more than one badass treehouse.
WALLHALLA, SOUTH CAROLINA
Utopia might have been discovered in South Carolina. Stay in this treehouse hidden in 40 acres of forest for $245 a night.
SOUTH KUTA, BALI
Anything that is described as a “magical mango treehouse in a vintage village” has me completely sold.
MONTE VERDE, SPAIN
Called “Chalets Recanto da Fonte,” this charming dwelling is the definition of rustic elegance. Plus, it’s in Brazil.
COOPER, ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA
This hand-crafted treehouse is at the Bio Thermales natural resort, and is “organically integrated into a 35-acre rainforest.” It also has 12 natural hot and cool spring pools, which is pretty dope.
MONTEZUMA, PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA
Just more Costa Rica goodness.

ILE SAINTE MARIE, ANALANJIROFO, MADAGASCAR
I’ve never been to Madagascar, but I can only imagine how amazing it is, let alone experiencing it in this beach hut facing a lagoon.
KAMMALA, PHUKET, THAILAND
By far my favorite on the list, this Phucket treehouse is barely a treehouse and more of a villa, so we’ll just classify it as the most opulent treehouse you could ever imagine.
BILPIN, NSW, AUSTRALIA
You’ll get to sleep on a property with more than 600 acres of private wilderness in the Blue Mountains in this Aussie treehouse.
This cottage in Spain is pretty quaint, but the attention to detail in its architecture will make you forget you’re up in a tree.
