Instead of the traditional open bar with you know, alcohol, California couple John Elledge and Whitney Alexander opted for a marijuana tent at their wedding reception this summer in West Linn, Oregon.
Elledge, a professional marijuana grower (everything makes sense now), designed a spread of 13 different strains for guests to enjoy. And since no one likes a wedding where there isn’t an open bar, all the strains were free of charge. Unlimited weed could cause some problems, as one would imagine, but the couple staffed the wedding with a “budtender” who monitored consumption to make sure people didn’t get too high. And Bridal Bliss in Lake Oswego helped the couple plan the festivities, making sure guests had appropriate transportation to and from the venue. The concept was such a hit, even the old people got in on the action.
“We were shocked by how much people loved it,” Elledge told USA Today. “Even an 81-year-old woman who hadn’t smoked weed since the ‘60s came into the tent at our wedding.”
