Dark Souls III is a game about fighting horrific monsters with a sword and a shield and the determination not to let a little thing like getting totally ravaged over and over again stop you. Also you’re some kind of undead person.
With that in mind, it might be tough to characterize using a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” in the latest Dark Souls III trailer as “fitting.” But it does make a kind of sense: the cover, by Richie Kohan and featuring Faux Fix, recontextualized, is creepy like the Dark Souls world is a creepy awful medieval version of ours. And really, creepy versions of pop songs Phil Collins has sung are awesome things for video game trailers.

New rule: No releasing a video game unless one of its trailers has a creepy version of a Phil Collins song.
