Whether you’re a Bowie completist or someone who simply enjoys slurring “Changes” at karaoke every now and then, there’s something for you here.
Playboy digital designer Sean Noyce dived into Bowie’s lyrics and created word clouds for each decade, using roughly the top 40 words used in each of the man’s 25 studio albums. He also designed the image above, which tallies and categorizes all of Bowie’s most-used words. We’ll leave it to you to detect the patterns and progressions as Bowie evolves from the life/love/la-la ‘60s to this decade’s stars/god/bless. You might even connect the dots and end up with some Bowie-esque lines of your own. (We came up with “Oh stars, God dancing / Valentine eyes who’d fuck nothing.”)
