The guys behind New York City’s most influential cocktail bar of the past decade, Death & Company, have released an accessible new cookbook, Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails. Owners David Kaplan and Alex Day, plus writer Nick Fauchald, pack the book with 500 original recipes and essays on the theory and philosophy of drink-making without sounding like mixology elitists. They also include guides to buying spirits and mastering bartending techniques, lots of color photos, fun charts, and detailed infographics. Arguably the best inclusion in the book is a collection of stories written by the East Village bar’s drink-slingers about their favorite regulars. Did your sordid tale make the cut?
