A 24-year-old man died and nine others were hospitalized during last weekend’s Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas.
With temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, an estimated 135,000 people attended the three-day electronic dance music festival. The extreme heat coupled with an abundance of drugs and alcohol led to 512 medical calls from the event in a 12-hour span.
In addition to the fatality, nine others were transported to local hospitals, and 32 people were arrested, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. Most of the arrests were narcotic-related.
At this time, no cause of death has been determined, and results of a toxicology report could take weeks. The man’s identity has not yet been released as police are still attempting to notify his family.
