Demi Lovato was spotted holding hands with DJ and music producer Lauren Abedini, a.k.a. Kittens, at Disneyland over the weekend, her fans are convinced the two are dating. Lovato hinted at her bisexuality in her 2015 hit “Cool for the Summer,” but this would be her first public same-sex relationship.
Lovato released a new song last Friday called “You Don’t Do It for Me Anymore,” and the lyrics are about ending a bad relationship. It almost sounds like Lovato is singing about giving up on guys altogether, but an Instagram interaction she had with a fan proves that’s not the case. In fact, she’s singing about the toxic relationship she had with herself, and how she had to leave that in the past.
If you aren’t familiar with DJ Kittens, she’s a cat lover (thus, the name), and between DJ gigs, she runs nonprofit DJ workshops for women to raise money for women’s shelters. Neither Lovato or Abedini has commented on whether or not they’re romantically involved, but Abedini does date women. In fact, earlier this year, she wrote a piece for Playboy about the Dinah Shore Weekend, a five-day festival in Palm Springs that’s known as the biggest annual event in the lesbian community.
Lmaoooo so I wanted to take a cute "We’re so excited cuz so many people have signed up for the women’s charity DJ workshop!" pic but Rakim had to RUIN it with his unamused ass face but trust me he’s gonna get on board and told me he’s very happy for the amazing response we’ve gotten so far:) . Looks like we’re gonna have to set up a few more LA dates and other cities too so stay up. #pwrkittens
Fan reaction to the potential relationship has been overwhelmingly positive. A few sample tweets:
They do make a cute couple—and both women are also great on their own:
