I can’t say for sure whether or not I’ve ever seen an article of clothing from Dolce & Gabbana in the flesh, because I don’t really hang out with particularly fashionable people—mostly just guys who wear shorts. Nevertheless, I’m familiar enough with the Dolce & Gabbana brand to know that Dolce & Gabbana should not be producing kitchen appliances.

So you can imagine my surprise upon learning that Dolce & Gabbana, a luxury Italian fashion house that gets rapped about a lot, has teamed up with the kitchenware company Smeg to make over-the-top and presumably-out-of-your-price-range toasters, juicers, coffee machines, kettles and blenders, according to High Snobiety.

I mean, don’t get me wrong: A Dolce & Gabbana toaster is dope. It really is. It’s decorated with Sicilian flowers and fruits like golden lemons and cherries, per this press release. But I’m not trying to look at “the ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux and the famous Trinacria (as depicted on the Sicilian flag)” when I’m waiting for my bagel to brown in the morning. I’m just not.

But hey, maybe you are. In that case, D&G’s colorful and wholly unnecessary appliances will be available in the fall, price TBD. If you buy them, I’d like to know what you do for a living.
