If you turn on the radio right now, it’s hard to make it through the entire dial without hearing a Drake song playing at least twice. His album Views just hit Number 1 on the Billboard 200 list for the 10th week, so you can bet that the unofficial mayor of Toronto is feeling pretty good right now. So good, in fact, that he had his own sneakers dipped in gold.
Drake commissioned artist Matthew Senna to cover a pair of his OVO Air Jordan 10s in solid gold. In his caption, Drake wrote “#TheseWeigh100Pounds,” which we’re guessing is an exaggeration. If not, they would be a much more luxurious way to get wacked by the mafia than the typical “cement galoshes.”
There doesn’t appear to be any part of the Air Jordans that is not coated in 24K gold. Even the outsoles are gold, which probably doesn’t provide the best traction.
The OVO 10s were already rare—a pair at Stadium Goods is currently selling for $595—but this customization puts them in a league of their own. We’re guessing Kevin Hart won’t be able to get his hands on these either.
