If you’re any type of festival or concert aficionado, you know that VIP status means at least getting to avoid the shitty long lines that always plague every good music event (hey, no one likes waiting in line for a beer, especially me). But when you’re attending a 3-day ridiculous dance festival like EDC Las Vegas, the VIP ammenities go above and beyond line jumping.
Check out some of my favorite perks from this year’s festival in Sin City, and then let me know ASAP if you want to buy me a VIP pass. I’m kinda fun, I promise.
A HELICOPTER RIDE RIGHT INTO THE PARTY
Insomniac and eBay had their first-ever charity auction this year, and some of the VIP amenities you could bid on were pretty ridiculous. This included arriving at EDC Las Vegas in total style in a Maverick helicopter. And if the ride looks slightly familiar to gamers, that’s because it’s the official helicopter in Grand Theft Auto Vice City. So feel free to totally nerd out.
ACCESS TO VIP CARNIVAL FUN, LIKE THE GIANT BALL PIT OF YOUR DREAMS
If you’ve been to EDC Las Vegas before, you know its all about the techni-color, wacky carnival that takes over Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And yes, there’s more than just a ferris wheel (cough, Coachella). For VIP guests, you’ll have access to a giant awesome ball pit (it’ll hopefully fix any bad experiences you had at Chuckie Cheese), complimentary make-up artists applying body paint, photo booths, VIP courtyards and more.
BE ONSTAGE FOR A LIVE DJ JET
Getting backstage is one thing, being on set during a live DJ set is a whole other story. This was another one of Insomniac’s charity features, and if you had the cash flow, you could wind up watching EDC from the point of view of an internationally acclaimed DJ, like with our boy Martin Garrix.
THE ULTIMATE DINING EXPERIENCE AT KINETICFIELD
No one likes being hungry under the influence, and the experience gets much worse when you’re waiting in lines during a 3-day festival when your feet ache like no other. EDC Las Vegas VIPs can get the ultimate dining experience with the dining deck at kineticFIELD, which gives lucky patrons access to complimentary appetizers every night and to the full sit-down chef-designed menu.
DROP THE FIRST TRACK AT THE STAGE OF YOUR CHOICE
You know that pivotal moment when you end up in control of the music at a party, and you think you’re about to blow everyone’s minds with your next music choice? Multiply that feeling times 10 at EDC Las Vegas, when you’re making about 400,000 thousand people dance to the song of your choice. Again, it required indulging in some heavy bidding wars at the eBay auction, but I’d say it would totally be worth the cash.
CHILL IN AN INCREDIBLE VIEWING AREA AT COSMICMEADOW STAGE
When you pay to attend a dance festival like EDC, it’s usually always about the music. So watching your favorite performance up close and without having to be constantly throwing elbows at people trying to kill your vibe is crucial. That’s why 2015 VIP pass holders have access to a private viewing area in front of cosmicMEADOW stage, which the view pretty much speaks for its self. The new area joins the other elevated decks at both kineticFIELD and circuitGROUNDS stages. Personally, I’m all about that extra dance room.
