Back in December, Tesla CEO Elon Musk encountered a problem L.A. residents know all too well. Traffic is a routine obstacle that can bring most of us to an overwhemingly dark place, but traffic problems seemed to actually inspire Musk to create a solution. It seems that he really wants to just dig under the city.
Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging…— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 17, 2016
I am actually going to do this— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 17, 2016
Some may have taken his claim as facetious, as Musk notoriously possesses a very playful Twitter personality. Many were certain that the bond-villain in the making had abandoned his tunnel making plans. Some even grew distracted and perplexed by his recent tweets in support of Trump’s Secretary of State pick Rex Tillerson. But he made it clear today he isn’t playing around.
Exciting progress on the tunnel front. Plan to start digging in a month or so.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 25, 2017
The question everyone is wondering though, is where exactly will the tunnel extend? The answer seems to be a tunnel that circumvents the 105 freeway in Los Angeles.
Starting across from my desk at SpaceX. Crenshaw and the 105 Freeway, which is 5 mins from LAX— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 25, 2017
Elon Musk being a real human being and not some supervillain in a comic book is truly a modern day miracle.
