Emoji will get a multi-cultural facelift when Apple releases it’s newest operating systems. That’s the news from The Next Web who got a first look at the new characters. They’re pretty much what you’d expect: non-white versions of familiar emoji like a queen or Santa. In fact, all of these Unicode faces will now show up in different-toned versions that iPhone users will be able to scroll through the same way you find a letter with an accent (by holding down on the character).

Look out for the update this summer. Maybe next Unicode will get even less racist by offering emoji for ethnic food options. Anyone for tacos?
