Facebook is developing a piece of AI that could soon be your best friend.
The new image recognition software from Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab aims to distinguish your sober photos from your falling-off-your-ass-drunk ones. Yann LeCun, head of the research lab, tells WIRED he wants to build a digital assistant that warns you before you post embarrassing photos: “Uh, this is being posted publicly. Are you sure you want your boss and your mother to see this?”
There’s still no word on exactly how it will work. Will it prevent you from posting statuses past 3 A.M.? Or use GPS to triangulate your distance from possible watering holes? However intrusive it turns out to be, when it comes to preserving our social dignity, we’ll take all the help we can get.
