Sharp-eyed players of Fallout 4 may have noticed a poster for Vault-Tec, the company behind the game’s ubiquitous nuclear fallout shelters, with the phone number 1-888-4-VAULT-TEC. Of course people have tried calling them in real life. And it works.

As Polygon reports, you can grab a phone right now and hear an automated post-apocalyptic message from Vault-Tec on the other end, asking you to hold forever. There’s only a hundred million people waiting, the message notes, and after a few hundred thousand hours, your call will be answered.

This isn’t a new marketing Easter egg by Fallout 4 developer Bethesda—you could call the number back in 2008 when Fallout 3 was released, too, and get the same message. But the number still functions after seven years, which is actually impressive. Wonder if anyone’s been on hold since then? If they wait long enough, maybe the apocalypse really will arrive.
