Like MINIs? Like fast cars? How about the best of both? We’re coming to you live from Le Castellet, France at the 2012 MINI United Festival, where the latest of MINI’s quirky creations was unveiled moments ago. was on the scene alongside BMW and MINI executives as they blew the cover off the brand spanking new John Cooper Works GP.

The GP, or formally GP II, is the successor to the performance GP special edition MINI released back in 2006. The updated model, reportedly in the works for years, has been track-tested as the fastest production MINI ever built. To make sure, the car was recently sent to the world-renowned Nürburgring track, where it managed to complete the circuit in a smooth 8 minutes and 23 seconds, beating the previous GP by 19 seconds (AKA miles in the car world).

The GP will feature a 214-horsepower, twin-scroll engine with a promised display of torque and performance handling that will get fans going nuts. When these babies roll off the line in the fall, you better order one quick, as production will be limited to 2,000 units.

We’ll have more on the GP along with our video of the press conference and unveiling next week as part of our MINI United Roundup. For more details, follow us on Twitter at @PlayboyDotCom or on
