After seven movies, Dom Toretto has broken bad. And it’s all Charlize Theron’s fault.
The first trailer for the eighth Fast and Furious movie—dramatically titled The Fate of the Furious—dropped yesterday, showing that Vin Diesel’s bad boy is about to get much worse, turning on his custom-built family (including, as usual, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris) for mysterious reasons that center around Theron’s high-tech villain Cipher. But what could she have on him to make him switch sides? Besides that kiss, of course.
Toretto’s turncoating creates a vacancy on the Furious side, of course, letting Jason Statham sign up for another tour of duty, much to the displeasure of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. But when there are fast cars, spectacular stunts and all-new vehicles (including, apparently, a submarine and a tank) to wreck, it’s hard to stay mad for too long.
