A two-alarm fire broke out at a pool area in Las Vegas yesterday. Around noon, The Cosmopolitan’s Bamboo Pool went up in flames and quickly rampaged, due to the outdoor lounge’s decor.
The flames spread through touching artificial palm fronds and canopies, explained Clark County Fire Department spokesman Greg Cassell, who likened the cabanas and fake plants to “liquid gasoline.”
Firefighters conquered the 14th-floor West End tower inferno in 30 minutes. Thankfully, the causalities were only landscaping and furniture. One person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, however, with another treated for it.
The fire’s cause is unknown and under investigation.
