Game of Thrones is the greatest television show to ever exist. In fact calling it a television show seems to not truly express how amazing it is. It’s got violence, sex, british people and dragons. What more could you want? There’s also a ton of complex and intriguing characters on the show as well, although they seem to be getting killed off left and right. So it’s a good thing most of these actors had successful careers before appearing on the HBO hit drama. Here’s what some of the most popular Game of Thrones stars looked like when they were younger.
Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) in Pascali’s Island
So apparently now we know how a Lannister pays his debts…
Ned Stark (Sean Bean) in The Bill
Apparently “Robert’s Rebellion” was a Westeros punk band in the 1980s.
Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) in The Jungle Book
Much like the wine she loves to drink, Cersei only gets better with age.
Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) in The Station Agent
He definitely looks better without a giant scar over his face.
Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) in The Avengers
This is a little before Robert Downey Jr. became Iron Man.
Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) in Queer as Folk
He was also the mayor on The Wire. Also, that’s young Jax from Sons of Anarchy on the right.
Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) in Hidden Agenda
She probably has more fun in prison than she does at weddings.
Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) in Equus
Apparently he’s also Lily Allen’s little brother.
Sandor Clegane a.k.a The Hound (Rory McCann) in The Book Group
Wow, he looks a lot better without half his face scarred from burn marks.
Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) in The Full Monty
He also played Fred Flintstone in Viva Rock Vegas, so he’s pretty used to playing the buffoon.
Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) in Welcome to Sarajevo
He looks like he was willing to burn people alive even then.
Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) in Mountains of the Moon
Maybe he’d have a better shot with Khaleesi back then.
Hodor (Kristian Nairn)
Before he was busy saying “Hodor,” over and over again, Kristian worked as a DJ. You don’t need a lot of credits to say one word hundreds of times.
