At Beijing’s World Robot Conference, some very excited people finally got to meet and have a Q&A with Geminoid F, an android created by Osaka University to look a hell of a lot like a twentysomething woman, according to CBC. She’s 5'6", able to make legit eye contact, and, in certain lighting, could honestly pass as a Björk impersonator.
People have been jazzed on her since it was announced several weeks ago that she “landed” a starring role in the Japanese film Sayōnara, which means she has an IMDB profile—the first ever for a robot—and is already beating all those “I’ll be in the pictures someday, you’ll see” kids from high school.
Geminoid F’s body (as well as that of her male equivalent) is based off human models tracked in a 3D scanner, down to her facial contours. Her makers did a superb job, as the humanoid wasn’t only celebrated for her realism, but also for how many times attendees called her “hot.” Science!
