There’s a decided lack of modern Evil Dead video games, which is weird given that, between the deadites, the humor and the many tiny Bruce Campbells to squash, Army of Darkness is basically a video game that writes itself.
The folks over at CineFix recognized that fact and created an 8-bit Cinema tribute of an Army of Darkness game you never knew you needed when you were a kid. Too bad Nintendo wasn’t cooler back in the day, because this seems like something that would have made serious money—at least, 25 years later, when Army of Darkness is considered a cult horror-comedy classic.
Still, if you’re itching for more Evil Dead to go with the upcoming “Ash vs. Evil Dead” revival on Starz, you can always reanimate older games in the franchise: Evil Dead: Hail to the King on Playstation, Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick, Evil Dead: Regeneration on Xbox and Playstation 2, and Army of Darkness Defense on mobile. Regeneration in particular is ridiculous in the best way possible.
