2017 is shaping up to be a good year for the Walt Disney Company.
A survey of next year’s most anticipated movies, carried out by Fandango, unsurprisingly places Star Wars: Episode VIII at the top of the list, but it’s followed by Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, meaning that the House of Mouse owns the three movies audiences are most excited about next year.
Disney is also connected to the fifth most anticipated movie on the list. Marvel is co-producing Spider-Man: Homecoming with Sony, which will release and distribute the superhero reboot. The movie preventing Disney from having a clean sweep of the top four spots is Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman; its sibling Justice League takes the sixth spot, ahead of The Fate of the Furious, Fifty Shades Darker, Logan and Despicable Me 3.
Disney also scored big when it came to the most anticipated actors, according to the poll: Emma Watson, star of Beauty and the Beast, and Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley are the female faces audiences are most looking forward to, while Chris Pratt topped the male list, thanks to the second Guardians of the Galaxy. Which is all very well and good, but where are Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck on that list? Something for Disney to aim for in 2018, apparently…
