Goldie Hawn’s new movie, Snatched, costars Amy Schumer and is about a tumultuous mother/daughter relationship—but in real life, Hawn’s 34-year relationship with Kurt Russell gets all the attention. In the new issue of People magazine, editorial director Jess Cagle asked the actress to share her thoughts on monogamy.
Hawn said, “Monogamy is a very tough order,” explaining that there are periods in life, hormonally, where things are “edgy and precarious” for both men and women. “Every relationship has its trials.”
She said, “You’re in the prime of your life, you are attracted to other people, potentially, you have fantasies about that. It really runs the risk, if you will, if you’re not aware that you could maybe screw up a really good thing by doing that.” To avoid screwing it up, Hawn recommends focusing on certain things, including love, gratitude, laughs, and sex.
Last week, the couple received side-by-side stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the ceremony, Hawn joked, “Can we just get married? We’ve never had a celebration like this before.”
