Gucci Mane was a double crowd pleaser at last night’s game between the Atlanta Hawks and the New Orleans Pelicans. First, he performed in the halftime show, leading the crowd in what must be one of the most epic mannequin challenges yet. “Black Beatles,” the number-one song by hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, features Gucci Mane, and many believe that it went number one due to the viral success of the mannequin challenge, which frequently uses the song as its theme. For those who have (understandably) spent the last few weeks under a rock, the mannequin challenge is a video where everyone must remain still as “Black Beatles” or another song plays.
Later on, Mane proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Keyshia Ka'oir, while on the kiss-cam. Awwww.
This furthers Gucci’s evolution into a mainstream cultural icon. If four years ago you suggested that a slim and sober Gucci Mane would have a number-one hit and a fiancee, you would have been laughed out of the room. As cool-dude Billy Zane says in Zoolander, “Back on top, man.”
