If you kick your feet up every night after a long day on the job, satisfied with your hard work and incredible productivity, you’ve still got nothing on Gucci Mane.
Since being released from a three-year prison stint in May 2016, the rapper has put all other prolific people to shame, dropping two full-length albums (with a third on the way in October), two mixtapes, four EPs, and dozens of features, even scoring his first number-one single (Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles”) in the process. He dropped 50 pounds, penned an autobiography, proposed to his girlfriend at an Atlanta Hawks game, and created an Instagram account for his chain. His startling output has led some to wonder whether or not he’s actually a government clone. Tough to say, really.
Now the Atlanta rapper (a.k.a. Radric Delantic Davis) has decided to make his own running shoes, because hey, why not? But Gucci Mane doesn’t make regular running shoes like some other rappers might. Gucci Mane partners with Reebok to craft white and silver kicks with a rhinestone ice cream cone on top, and lightning bolts on top of that:
Gucci took to Instagram to unveil the sneakers, which he has dubbed the “Guwops.” In Gucci parlance, “Guwop” stands for “God Unity Wisdom Opportunity Power,” but pre-prison, it used to be an acronym for “Get Ur Weight Up, Pussy.” Regardless of which philosophy Gucci presently subscribes to, this is still a great name for a shoe.
Per Food and Wine, the sneakers drop October 17, which is something of a busy day for a decently busy person. That’s when Gucci’s new album, Mr. Davis, hits stores, and it’s also when the rapper will marry his fianceé, Keyshia Ka’Oir. Oh, and the wedding special (The Mane Event) will air live on BET at 10:17 a.m. that day.
Gucci is living his best life, weird numerology and all. Can you say the same?
