Early Friday morning, the Sunset Strip was lined up with relevance that it hadn’t seen since its late ‘80s heyday. With posters adorning the location of what was once Tower Records, fans immediately flocked to the famed former retail giant as rumors of the reunited Guns N’ Roses will indeed be performing tonight at the Troubadour. On the marquee above the famed Santa Monica Blvd. venue where the band built their legend, read “Not in This Lifetime,” the words Axl Rose famously wrote in his now infamous open letter around the time the band was inducted in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame back in 2012.
Once the rumors were proven to be credible, fans actually camped out in front of Tower. I cruised by Tower at 9 a.m. on a tip and the line was already up the hill hundreds deep – proving that the rumors of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagen and possibly Steven Adler will put aside the differences that have plagued them for over two decades and do what they do best: rock.
The band is slated to go on-stage cryptically at some point after 11 p.m., but knowing GNR’s history, 11 could mean 11 a.m. Saturday morning. Either way, Guns N’ Roses are indeed back and let’s see how long the good vibes between band members last.
