Playboy's How To: Make Girls Drinks

By Jackie and Ray Foley, as told to Sarah Preston

When it comes to boozing, girls can be as picky about their poison as guys. Men cannot assume that every woman is as easy as an apple martini. You have to put a little thought into what you stock your home bar with before having a babe over—especially if you're looking to score brownie points in the bedroom later. Two people who have given that a lot of thought are Jackie and Ray Foley, the editor and founder, respectively, of Bartender magazine. Jackie's first book, The Pink Drink Book, tackles traditional chick drinks from a woman's perspective, offering tips on everything from fruit garnishes to glassware and more than 1,100 recipes.

"My cocktail recipes all have a flair toward women—keeping it simple with the froufrou girlie drinks, which I enjoy," Jackie says. One of her favorite drinks from the book is the rasmopolitan. "It's an updated version of a cosmopolitan, made with Vox raspberry, which is a really nice new brand out."

But let's be honest. If a guy wants to both impress and intoxicate, Jackie suggests the femme fatale. "It's a Hennessy with cranberry juice topped with champagne—I love the name and I love the recipe. Some guys might not want to do Vox raspberry, but Hennessy—that's a cognac, more of a guy thing."

Playboy.com recently sat down for a spirited conversation with the Foleys about what every guy should know about using liquor to loosen a woman up.

You Only Need One Type of Glass
"There's only one glass a man needs: a red wine balloon glass," Jackie advises. "It's an all-purpose glass. You can use it for champagne, you can serve drinks on the rocks, you can serve mixed drinks in it." The Foleys also say you can use the red wine balloon glass for beer—just remember to keep it frosted in the freezer.

Keep a Bottle Chilled
The Foleys strongly suggest having a decent bottle of champagne and white wine in your fridge at all times. "I love Veuve Clicquot—it's a wonderful champagne," says Jackie. "For white wine, try something inexpensive—I would go with Chateau Ste Michelle from Washington State, which is a little different," Ray adds. And don't forget to chill it. It's important the white wine and champagne are kept cold because you never know when opportunity will knock.
